"Today I Love You Because..."
Valentines Day is less than a week away so lots of couples are looking for that perfect way to express their love and commitment to the special one in their life.
I'm am signed up to receive Michael Webb's Romantic Tip of the Week. Today he sent out such a good one that I had to share it with you.
He used an old wooden recipe box and put his own special touch on it. You may find that it's too late to hunt down that perfect antique wooden box, but I'm sure you can come up with an alternative that would knock the socks off your sweetie just as much as Michael's recipe box. I've seen many sturdy cardboard boxes in several different shapes at my local Hobby Lobby and Michael's craft stores. I think I've even seen them carry wooden boxes, but I don't know what sizes off hand.
Here's what he did:
"This takes a little bit of work, but it's worth it. I went to an antique store and bought an old wooden recipe card box. I took a wood burner and on top of it burned my wife's name and some flowers. Then on the front I wood-burned "Today I love you because." The first card in the box talked about the age and beauty of the wood, like our marriage. And it promised there were far more reasons I love her than this box could ever hold.
Every day since that day (several months ago) I have made a 4x6 card that started with the words, "Today I love you because." Some reasons are funny, some are serious. Some reflect my mood for the day. Before I leave the house every morning, I leave a card somewhere I know she will find it. Like in the refrigerator, in her car or purse, or hidden in the morning paper.
But this exercise has two very wonderful benefits: 1. It forces me to think hard about why I really do love my wife today. Any person who spends this much time thinking about why they loves their mate will surely start treating them like the treasure they are. 2. It may take a long time, but by golly, she's eventually going to believe you. Just hang in there."
Isn't that great?! What a wonderful thing to do for your spouse/loved one. I have found Michael's website to be a great source for keeping the romance alive. Not everything he suggests however, is right for my relationship with my husband, but I just disregard what wouldn't work for us and move on to something that would.
Have a Happy Valentines!

Hi, Thanks for commenting on my blog, Gentle Breezes. Unfortunately I can't email directly back to; Blogger won't let me do that.
We are using Cingular for our son; the go-phone. We bought a $30. refurbished phone and a phone card. Though there is the option of $.10 a minute, there is also a $1.00 access fee for each day the phone is used. I decided to go with the $.25/ minute but no access fee.
We are using the Nokia 6030 offered by Cingular, and purchased from them.
I will report on my blog how he is handling the phone.
HI Debbie! I found you through a comment you left on my blog: Kismet, Art, and Life. I would love to email you my egg-less nog recipe, and a few other things as well, but I can't find an email address for you! If you email me directly (there is a link on my blog), I can pass on the recipe!
It was great to hear from you, and I have enjoyed perusing your blog as well. I will definitely be back frequently!
Great Valentine's Day ideas.
I think I will use this idea for Valentines day and add an index card each day. I'll let you know how it goes. :o)
