Pet Food Recall

Did you hear about the pet food recall? Apparently the recall is only for wet pet food, sold in cans or pouches. The number of affected pets are not yet known, but pet owners are finding their animals suffering and dying of kidney failure.

What is most disturbing to me is that they don't even know what exactly it is in the food that is causing dogs & cats to become so deathly ill. In our home, we don't feed our pets wet food products, only dry food. But doesn't it make you wonder, that if they don't know what it is that is causing our pets to be so sick, how do they know it's not in the dry food too?

I was watching Fox News today and they had a pet expert on. She stated that until they announced a cause of the problem she didn't feel comfortable even feeding her pet dry food. She decided that she wasn't going to be feeding her dog any commercial food and that she would either feed her dog table scraps or homemade dog food. One thing she did make clear is, if you decide to take your pet off of commercial food, it's important to make sure and give your pet a multivitamin so that it receives the complete nutrition it needs to remain healthy.
